Basketball Recap: South Newton Takes a Loss

South Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 63-34 defeat at the hands of the Pioneer Panthers. The contest marked the Rebels' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why South Newton lost, don't look at Lucas Bogucki. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points and five rebounds. Those 13 points gave Bogucki a new career-high.

South Newton's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Pioneer, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Newton will take on Tri-Township at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pioneer, they will challenge North Judson-San Pierre at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
