It was a good run, but Starkville Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 49-35 bruising from the Pillow Academy Mustangs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Volunteers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 37-30 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Starkville Academy lost, don't look at Raylee Jones. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards. Jones has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last four times she's played. Kate Couvillion was another key player, putting up nine points.

Starkville Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7. As for Pillow Academy, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.

Starkville Academy is taking a road trip to take on Magnolia Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pillow Academy, they will host Heritage Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
