It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Monroe-Woodbury ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Kingston Tigers 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Crusaders sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Lucas Beers tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Post, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.

Monroe-Woodbury pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Kingston, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Monroe-Woodbury will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
