Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Rocky Ford's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Rocky Ford's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the Hoehne Farmers get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The Meloneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by ten runs or more this season.

Shayne Gonzales made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rocky Ford is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise. Gonzales was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chris Augilar, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Vasquez-Gallegos, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Rocky Ford has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Hoehne, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Rocky Ford wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 19-9 defeat against Las Animas on the 18th. As for Hoehne, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 17-0 loss against Fowler on the 18th.
