Baseball Game Preview: Columbus Discoverers vs. Lincoln North Star Navigators

Columbus is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Saturday. They will head out to challenge the Lincoln North Star Navigators at 10:00 a.m. Lincoln North Star took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Columbus, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Columbus needed a bit of extra time to put away Omaha Central. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Eagles. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Discoverers.

Karsten Killham looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, marking his first of the season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Quenton Gustafson, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Grant Zoucha was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-6.

Meanwhile, Lincoln North Star entered their contest against Pius X on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Navigators lost 12-6 to the Thunderbolts.

Lincoln North Star saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jameson Lantz, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Sam Schaefer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lincoln North Star's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Columbus, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-8.
