Recap: Dodge County Indians vs. Wilcox County Patriots
If the Dodge County Indians were riding high off their 54-19 takedown of the Brooks County Trojans on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Dodge County took a 44-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wilcox County on Tuesday. Dodge County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wilcox County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.
Dodge County's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kamiya Smith, who scored 14 points.
Even though they lost, Dodge County were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilcox County only pulled down 29.
Tyliah Benjamin went supernova for Wilcox County, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 27 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Janiyah Ford, who scored 7 points along with 10 rebounds.
Dodge County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Wilcox County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dodge County will face off against East Laurens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wilcox County, they will head out on the road to face off against Hawkinsville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hawkinsville and Wilcox County are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
