Basketball Recap: Athens Beats Royal Oak for Their Third Straight Victory

Athens lost to Royal Oak back in February of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Athens Red Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-37 win over the Royal Oak Ravens. The victory was familiar territory for the Red Hawks, who have now won three contests in a row.

Athens got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nathan Piggott out in front who posted five points and 11 rebounds. That's the most boards Piggott has posted since back in November of 2024. Alan Spahic was another key player, putting up six points.

Athens' victory bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Royal Oak, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.

Athens didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 76-41 defeat against De La Salle Collegiate on the 4th. Royal Oak does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
