Baseball Game Preview: Carver Montgomery Wolverines vs. Bullock County Hornets

The Carver Montgomery Wolverines will challenge the Bullock County Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Carver Montgomery will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

On Saturday, Carver Montgomery got the win against Morrow by a conclusive 15-5.

Aaron Reese made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Carver Montgomery is undefeated when Reese posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordan Wells, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Jerome Price was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Bullock County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 18-1 to Straughn. One positive for the Hornets, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

The victory got Carver Montgomery back to even at 4-4. As for Bullock County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Carver Montgomery took their win against Bullock County in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 15-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carver Montgomery since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
