Baseball Recap: DuVal Takes a Loss

After flying high against Wise on Friday, DuVal came back down to earth. The Tigers fell 8-3 to the Bowie Bulldogs on Saturday. The Tigers have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Ezeqiel Velez put in work no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Velez wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jeremias Velez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

DuVal's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Bowie, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-1.

DuVal does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bowie, they will be playing at home against Annapolis at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
