Baseball Recap: Chaminade Gets the Win

Chaminade took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Lafayette, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Flyers skirted past the Lancers 5-3. While the Flyers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Charlie Hobbs tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Ben Augustin was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Chaminade's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Lafayette, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-3 record this season.

Chaminade will be playing in front of their home fans against Rockwood Summit at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lafayette, they are taking a road trip to square off against De Smet Jesuit at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
