Torrey Pines came tearing into Tuesday's game with eight straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Poway Titans. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 2-1 win on Saturday.

Torrey Pines had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 28-26, 15-13.

Torrey Pines can attribute much of their success to Ben Brzenski, who had six digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Brzenski a new career-high. Griffin Dieter was another key player, getting 12 digs.

They weren't the only good server: Torrey Pines was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive matches.

Torrey Pines' victory bumped their record up to 30-6. As for Poway, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 23-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Torrey Pines will venture away from home to face off against Canyon Crest Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Poway, they will head out to square off against Del Norte at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
