Volleyball Game Preview: Cabrillo Conquistadores vs. Santa Ynez Pirates

Cabrillo hasn't had much luck against Santa Ynez recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Conquistadores will head out to take on the Pirates at 6:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Cabrillo came up short against Pioneer Valley and fell 3-1.

Cabrillo actually scored more points across those four sets (87-86), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-23, 11-25, 25-19, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Santa Ynez waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Cardinals. The game was the first time the Pirates have beaten the Cardinals on their court since March 19, 2022.

Santa Ynez not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Bishop Diego to exactly 20 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-20.

Cabrillo's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-7. As for Santa Ynez, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Cabrillo might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Santa Ynez in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can the Conquistadores avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
