Baseball Recap: Bagdad Wins Going Away Against Salome

Bagdad got themselves on the board against Salome on Tuesday, but Salome never followed suit. They blew past the Salome Frogs 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Sultans, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Bubba Myers made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Destry Owings, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Rowdy Hooper, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Bagdad was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Bagdad and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Coming up, Bagdad will look to defend their home field on Monday against Antelope at 5:00 p.m. Salome will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Anthem Prep at 3:00 p.m. on March 17th.
