Basketball Recap: Crawfordsville Comes Up Short

Crawfordsville lost against West Lafayette back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Athenians took a 78-61 bruising from the Red Devils. The Athenians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Crawfordsville lost, don't look at Mason McCarty. Despite the final result, he posted 25 points and six rebounds. McCarty has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnovan Smith, who shot 56% from the field en route to 11 points and eight boards.

Crawfordsville now has a losing record of 1-2. As for West Lafayette, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Crawfordsville will be home for the holidays to greet North Montgomery at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Athenians' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. West Lafayette has already played their next contest (against Clinton Prairie), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
