Riverton Parke has gone a perfect 10-0 against North Vermillion recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Panthers will take on the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Riverton Parke took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 14-7 margin over South Putnam. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Eli Roberts was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Collett Sanders, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Riverton Parke always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, North Vermillion scored the most runs they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 14-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Attica. Falcons fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Red Ramblers since on Saturday.
Emmit Klugow made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.
Riverton Parke pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for North Vermillion, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15.
North Vermillion's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Riverton Parke has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for North Vermillion, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Riverton Parke keep running through batters, or will the Falcons buck the trend?
Everything went Riverton Parke's way against North Vermillion in their previous meeting back in April, as Riverton Parke made off with a 15-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
