Baseball Recap: State College Comes Up Short

If State College was riding high fresh off their 7-1 takedown of Chambersburg last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Little Lions lost 8-2 to the Cumberland Valley Eagles on Wednesday. The contest marked the Little Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

State College now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Cumberland Valley, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. State College will take on Punxsutawney at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Chucks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Little Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cumberland Valley, they will challenge Mifflin County at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.4, the Huskies 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
