Football Recap: Douglas Byrd Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Douglas Byrd extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They had to suffer through a 51-7 loss at the hands of the Gray's Creek Bears. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-0.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed six in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Damarion Cook, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

As for Gray's Creek, their win bumped their record up to 3-1. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Gray's Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ezekiel Reed led the charge by picking up 127 receiving yards and two TDs, while also punching in a pair of touchdowns on the ground. Another passer making a difference was K.J. Jackson, who threw for 340 yards and four TDs while completing 76% of his passes.

Douglas Byrd wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 35-18 defeat against Red Springs on the 19th. As for Gray's Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 27-24 loss against E.E. Smith on the 19th.
