Basketball Recap: Gouverneur Comes Up Short

Gouverneur was the 64-62 winner over Massena when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Gouverneur Wildcats took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Massena Raiders. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Loss or not, Gouverneur got some senior leadership from Raine Rumble and Kaleb Platt. Rumble posted 22 points, while Platt put up 18 points. That was a full 44.9% of Gouverneur's points, marking the 12th time in a row Rumble has had more than a third of the team's points.

Massena found their leader in freshman Alexander Tarbell, who went 6-for-13 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Boyea, who earned nine points and six boards.

Gouverneur's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Massena, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-11.

Gouverneur didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-44 loss against Potsdam on the 11th. As for Massena, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 59-51 defeat against Franklin Academy on the 11th.
