Softball Recap: Highland Find Success

Highland proved they can win big last Friday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Cottonwood Colts 12-11. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 15-14 victory the Colts walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Hanna Schultz and Gretchen Alford did most of the damage at the plate: Schultz scored three runs while going 2-for-4, while Alford went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Alford a new career-high.

Highland is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Cottonwood, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Highland has already played their next match, a 20-8 defeat against West on the 15th. As for Cottonwood, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Jordan on the 15th.
