Softball Recap: Catholic Central Comes Up Short

Catholic Central came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Fairbanks Panthers, falling 15-2. The Irish haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Catholic Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Fairbanks, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Catholic Central will welcome Yellow Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Irish's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Fairbanks, they will take on Pleasant at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.22 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
