Basketball Game Preview: Onalaska Wildcats vs. Crockett Bulldogs

Onalaska is 0-10 against Crockett since February of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Onalaska Wildcats will welcome the Crockett Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Onalaska's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 14 matches.

Onalaska is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Trinity: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Onalaska blew Trinity out of the water with a 94-65 final score. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 26 points or more this season.

Onalaska's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dante Leleux led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards. Leleux is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Reyes, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 16 points and six assists.

Onalaska smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 24 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Crockett posted their closest win since December 20, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past New Waverly 51-48. Given Crockett's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 504th, while New Waverly is ranked 1188th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Onalaska is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Crockett, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-6.

Onalaska came up short against Crockett in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 63-56. Can Onalaska avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
