Softball Recap: South Bend Riley Beats North Miami for Their Sixth Straight Win

South Bend Riley entered their tilt with North Miami on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Warriors.

KAELYNN HOWELL spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, RACHEL HUNT was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times she's played. MADISYN SHAMBRY was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

South Bend Riley pushed their record up to 14-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for North Miami, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.

Coming up, South Bend Riley will venture away from home to take on Mishawaka Marian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.52 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. North Miami has already played their next match (against Oregon-Davis), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
