Basketball Recap: Shady Spring Comes Up Short

Shady Spring was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the Independence Patriots. One positive for the Tigers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Independence was led to victory by Lacey Goodson and Harmony Mills. Goodson dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds, while Mills dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Mills has scored at least a third of Independence's points. Addy Whittaker was another key player, putting up six points.

Shady Spring's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Independence, their record now sits at 4-5.

Shady Spring has already played their next game (against Midland Trail), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Independence will challenge Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
