Volleyball Recap: Howard Tigers vs. Irene/Wakonda Eagles
Howard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They fell just short of the Irene/Wakonda Eagles by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.
Howard took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 18-25, 23-25, 25-15, 15-13.
Irene/Wakonda's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mady Peterson, who had five digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Peterson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Orr, who had three digs and 23 assists.
Howard's loss dropped their record down to 3-23. As for Irene/Wakonda, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-18 record this season.
