Football Game Preview: Baker Hornets vs. Fairhope Pirates + How To Watch

The Baker Hornets will take on the Fairhope Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Baker will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Baker is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alabama's top teams: Mary G. Montgomery, who was ranked ninth at the time (Baker was ranked 14th). The Hornets strolled past the Vikings with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 43-28. The Hornets' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Baker's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khatori Marion, who picked up 182 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Marion's longest reception was for an incredible 73 yards. Tate Graham was another key passer, throwing for 230 yards and four TDs.

Baker was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 266 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mary G. Montgomery only rushed for 100.

Meanwhile, Fairhope didn't have too much trouble with Daphne on Friday as they won 38-21.

Baker better keep an eye on Trey Garner. He was instrumental in Fairhope's win, throwing for 230 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 43 yards and a pair of scores. Garner's passing game has become a key predictor of the Pirates' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Fisher Southall was Garner's top target, picking up 77 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Fairhope's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Baker, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Everything went Baker's way against Fairhope in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Baker made off with a 34-14 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Pirates' Bryon Martin, who picked up 84 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Hornets still be able to contain Martin? There's only one way to find out.
