Baseball Game Preview: St. Petersburg Green Devils vs. Northeast Vikings

St. Petersburg is 1-9 against Northeast since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The St. Petersburg Green Devils will head out to challenge the Northeast Vikings at 7:30 p.m. The matchup will give St. Petersburg their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.

Friday just wasn't the day for St. Petersburg's offense. They lost 9-0 to Calvary Christian on Friday. The Green Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Northeast posted their closest victory since April 25, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Pinellas Park 4-2. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.

Cooper White looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Guzman, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Connor Mook also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

St. Petersburg's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7-1. As for Northeast, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

St. Petersburg couldn't quite get it done against Northeast when the teams last played back in February as they fell 4-1. Can St. Petersburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
