Football Game Preview: Tivy Antlers vs. Veterans Memorial Patriots

The Tivy Antlers will head out on the road to take on the Veterans Memorial Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Tivy's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.

Tivy is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Victoria West just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 59-56. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (42), the Antlers still had to take the loss.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was President Calamaco, who picked up 163 receiving yards and two scores. He was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 59 yards. Aiden Zavala was another key back, rushing for 105 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Veterans Memorial didn't have quite enough to beat McCollum on Friday and fell 24-21.

Veterans Memorial now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Tivy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Tivy strolled past Veterans Memorial in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 35-17. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Antlers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
