Football Recap: Worthing Comes Up Short

Worthing was the 42-7 winner over Wharton when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Colts took a hard 32-14 fall against the Tigers on Friday. The Colts were right on the edge of victory: they outscored the Tigers in the fourth quarter 14-6.

Ja'Keon Jackson was a one-man wrecking crew For Wharton. as he rushed for 75 yards and one score on only nine carries, and also threw for 123 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jackson showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 68 yards.

Worthing's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Wharton, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Worthing will head out to face off against Kashmere at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Colts' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Wharton, they will face off against Houston Math Science & Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
