Recap: Weddington Warriors vs. Ardrey Kell Knights

If the Weddington Warriors were feeling good off their 60-38 takedown of the Rocky River Ravens last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Weddington fell 58-49 to Ardrey Kell on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Weddington in their matchups with Ardrey Kell: they've now lost four in a row.

Weddington's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bailey Page, who scored 18 points. Madison Motto was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Ardrey Kell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Molly Burns led the charge by scoring 24 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Burns has scored at least 25% of Ardrey Kell's points. Another player making a difference was Autumn Washington, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Weddington's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Ardrey Kell, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Weddington will be playing in front of their home fans against Parkwood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Parkwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while Weddington is ranked 154th). As for Ardrey Kell, they will head out on the road to face off against Providence Day at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Providence Day is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
