Brennan and O'Connor are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Brennan Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the O'Connor Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Brennan is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since May 24, 2024 last Tuesday. They came up short against Harlan, falling 12-2.

Christen Brinkman and Avery Leatherman stepped up to the plate in a big way. Brinkman scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Leatherman went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Mia Gutierrez-Castillo also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, O'Connor had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 8-4.

Faith Mayfield spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Meiko Dominguez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Sierra, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

O'Connor pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs over those games. As for Brennan, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
