Game recap: Vacaville High School Football Team tops Wood

VACAVILLE, Calif. - Vacaville (Calif.) extended its winning streak to five games with a 44-15 victory over Wood (Vacaville, Calif.) on Saturday.

The Bulldogs were up 21-3 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by David Mewborn in the first quarter.

Vacaville expanded its lead to 27 points entering the fourth quarter. VHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Curtis Goins touchdown run.

Jacob Te'o was the top performer for the Bulldogs. The senior halfback ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 10 touchdowns on the season.

Vacaville entered the contest giving up 26.3 points per game this year. VHS held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Wildcats well below the 25.1 points it had been averaging per game.



A 64-17 Vacaville victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

The defeat comes as a step back for Wood, which notched a 41-22 victory over Vintage in its previous outing. The loss snapped Wood's 2-game winning streak.
