Preview: Buckhorn Bucks vs. Hazel Green Trojans
Buckhorn is 8-2 against Hazel Green since December of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Buckhorn Bucks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hazel Green Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Buckhorn will be looking to keep their 18-game home win streak alive.
Buckhorn took a 41-point loss the last time they faced off against Mae Jemison, but they managed to turn things around on Tuesday. Buckhorn sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-58 victory over Mae Jemison. Given Buckhorn's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Mae Jemison is ranked 88th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hazel Green suffered their biggest loss yet this season on January 11th. They suffered a rough 69-49 defeat at the hands of Lee.
Buckhorn is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Hazel Green, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season.
Buckhorn didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Hazel Green when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 58-53 victory.
