Baseball Recap: Skyline Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Skyline, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Mead Mavericks 3-2. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 11-2 victory the Mavericks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Jack Knapp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Skyline is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 0-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Skyline saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JD Wright, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. John Haley also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Skyline's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7. As for Mead, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Skyline will take on Montbello at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Mead, they will challenge Niwot at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mavericks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
