Football Game Preview: Greenfield-Central Cougars vs. New Castle Trojans

For the second straight game, Greenfield-Central will face off against New Castle. The Cougars will host the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Greenfield-Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat New Castle 62-27. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Greenfield-Central found their leader in freshman Draven Nolting, who rushed for 81 yards and one score on only eight carries, and also threw for 58 yards and a pair of TDs. Nolting's superb passer rating of 177.1 also marked a new season-high. Another player making a difference was Kyson Nicholson, who rushed for 60 yards and one touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Greenfield-Central proved: they limited New Castle to a paltry 2.4 yards per carry. While one picked up at least seven total tackles, Cooper Hinton stood above the rest. He made seven total tackles and snagged an interception. Greenfield-Central's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.95 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 5.97 on average over their last five games.

This is the second loss in a row for New Castle and nudges their season record down to 2-7. As for Greenfield-Central, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
