Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Shasta Bears vs. Durham Trojans

The Mt. Shasta Bears will face off against the Durham Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Mt. Shasta sitting on six straight wins and Durham on eight.

On Friday, Mt. Shasta strolled past Etna with points to spare, taking the game 64-46. The Bears pushed the score to 53-33 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, Durham made easy work of Colusa on Wednesday and carried off a 60-40 victory. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Durham is also on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Mt. Shasta, they pushed their record up to 14-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Mt. Shasta skirted past Durham 56-53 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mt. Shasta since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
