Basketball Recap: Fairfax Comes Up Short

Fairfax was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against the West Potomac Wolverines, falling 66-34. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-14.

Olivia Jones continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for West Potomac, putting up 15 points along with seven boards and five assists. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jill Humphreys, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 11 points.

Fairfax's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for West Potomac, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Fairfax will welcome West Potomac at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for West Potomac, they will head out to challenge South County at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. West Potomac knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully South County likes a good challenge.
