Baseball Recap: Williamsport Takes a Loss

Williamsport lost against Liberty back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Millionaires fell just short of the Hurricanes by a score of 13-12. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (ten), the Millionaires still had to take the loss.

Williamsport got a massive performance out of Grant Vilello, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Vilello is becoming a predictor of the Millionaires' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Camden March, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Williamsport's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Liberty, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Williamsport and Liberty should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Millionaires (ranked 162nd) will meet Shikellamy (ranked 486th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Liberty will challenge East Stroudsburg South at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (35 vs. 141).
