Baseball Recap: Lakewood Has No Trouble Against Sedro-Woolley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Meridian, Lakewood was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Sedro-Woolley Cubs as they made off with a 7-1 victory. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 win the Cubs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Tejay Hoiland looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since April 5th.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Drew Egger, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Aiden Jones was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

With the victory, Lakewood broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-12. As for Sedro-Woolley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood will head out to square off against Sehome at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mariners' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Sedro-Woolley, they will venture away from home to challenge Mount Vernon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Cubs surely won't give up without a fight.
