Softball Game Preview: Milford Spartans vs. Pelham Pythons

The Milford Spartans will square off against the Pelham Pythons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Milford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Milford's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Souhegan hitters got past them. The Spartans took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sabers on Friday.

Arabelle Danforth was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Nadia Dutton also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Pelham fell victim to Lebanon and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Pythons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Caileigh Aguiar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 15 Ks.

Milford's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2. As for Pelham, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Milford took their win against Pelham in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 13-4 score. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pythons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
