Baseball Recap: Bunker Hill Takes a Loss

Bunker Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the East Alton-Wood River Oilers, falling 15-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Minutemen of the 10-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Ethan Heiens made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-2. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Cameron Watkins also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Bunker Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for East Alton-Wood River, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4.

Coming up, Bunker Hill will be playing in front of their home fans against Pawnee at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Alton-Wood River, they will venture away from home to take on Calhoun at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
