Baseball Game Preview: Mendota Aztecs vs. Dos Palos Broncos

Mendota hasn't had much luck against Dos Palos recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Aztecs will challenge the Broncos at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Dos Palos will be up against a hot Mendota team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Aztecs were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over Tranquillity on Monday. Considering the Aztecs have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dos Palos). They never let Avenal get on the board and left with a 23-0 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Tevin Clay made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Dos Palos got a massive performance out of Trevin Vincent, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave Vincent a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chaz Merrell, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Mendota's record now sits at 12-10. As for Dos Palos, their record is now 10-13.

Mendota couldn't quite get it done against Dos Palos in their previous meeting two weeks ago as they fell 7-3. Can the Aztecs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
