Baseball Recap: El Paso-Gridley Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses at Home

El Paso-Gridley owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They came out on top against the East St. Louis Flyers by a score of 4-0.

Blake Harris made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Harris was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, El Paso-Gridley got a great performance from Caden Castleman as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Castleman a new career-high.

Harris wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Vandegraft, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Vandegraft has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

El Paso-Gridley's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-17. As for East St. Louis, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Looking ahead, El Paso-Gridley will welcome Bloomington Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East St. Louis, they will head out on the road to face off against O'Fallon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
