Green Run hasn't had much luck against First Colonial recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Stallions will challenge the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Green Run has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Green Run is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Landstown, falling 11-2.
Green Run saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makayla Odeneal, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, First Colonial came tearing into Wednesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with an 8-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Cori Evans made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lucy Domozick was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aimee Ord, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
First Colonial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Landstown only posted an OBP of .250.
Green Run's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for First Colonial, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Green Run has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like First Colonial struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Green Run suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to First Colonial in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Stallions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
