Recap: Morenci Wildcats vs. Santa Rita Eagles
The Morenci Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Santa Rita 62-27 at home. That looming 62-27 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Morenci yet this season.
Morenci's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rozlyn Funari, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Elena Leonard was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with four steals.
Morenci's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Santa Rita, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morenci will challenge Benson at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Santa Rita, they will head out on the road to challenge Tombstone at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
