Baseball Game Preview: Independence/Gilmanton Indees vs. Osseo-Fairchild Thunder

Independence/Gilmanton is a perfect 3-0 against Osseo-Fairchild since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Indees will look to defend their home field against the Thunder at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Independence/Gilmanton 3.4, Osseo-Fairchild 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Independence/Gilmanton's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran on Saturday. The Indees have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Osseo-Fairchild had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Cardinals a 2-0 shutout. Give the Thunder's pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Osseo-Fairchild pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Independence/Gilmanton, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Independence/Gilmanton skirted past Osseo-Fairchild 1-0 when the teams last played back in April. Do the Indees have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunder turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
