The Washington Hatchets will challenge the Martinsville Artesians at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Washington will be strutting in after a win while Martinsville will be coming in after a loss.
Washington took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Pike Central as Washington made off with a 4-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hatchets needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.
Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Martinsville after they claimed the first goal on Wednesday, however, they wouldn't score again. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Plainfield. While losing is never fun, the Artesians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana soccer rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Quakers are ranked sixth).
The win got Washington back to even at 1-1. As for Martinsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
