Basketball Game Preview: Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks vs. Norland Vikings

Archbishop McCarthy is 0-4 against Norland since February of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks will challenge the Norland Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Archbishop McCarthy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Norland likes a good challenge.

Archbishop McCarthy heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Friday. They lost 83-58 to Pembroke Pines Charter. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Jaguars are ranked 17th).

Meanwhile, Norland came up short against Belen Jesuit on Friday and fell 50-41. The game marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Archbishop McCarthy will have to keep a close watch on Jahquori Lombrage and Michael Watson, a pair of players who had a big impact on Norland's prior game. Lombrage almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Watson posted 12 points. That's the most points Watson has posted since back in December of 2024.

Archbishop McCarthy's loss dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Norland, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-10.

Archbishop McCarthy came up short against Norland in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 68-59. Thankfully for Archbishop McCarthy, Marcus Allen (who dropped a double-double with 29 points and 13 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
