Basketball Game Preview: Western Dubuque Bobcats vs. Dubuque Senior Rams

Western Dubuque hasn't had much luck against Dubuque Senior recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Western Dubuque Bobcats will face off against the Dubuque Senior Rams at 7:00 p.m.

Western Dubuque is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Kennedy on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Western Dubuque was beaten by Kennedy 86-40. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Cougars are ranked eighth).

Meanwhile, Dubuque Senior had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 56-36 margin over the Saints. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Western Dubuque and nudges their season record down to 4-9. As for Dubuque Senior, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2.

Western Dubuque might still be hurting after the 68-43 defeat they got from Dubuque Senior in their previous meeting on January 7th. Can Western Dubuque avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
