Volleyball Recap: Union Takes a Loss

Union was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the West Columbus Vikings. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Union was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made West Columbus work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 29-27, 25-22, 25-20.

West Columbus' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoey Williamson, who had 20 digs. Another player making a difference was Payton Stroud, who had 13 digs.

Union's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for West Columbus, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-9.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Union is set to square off against their familiar foe North Duplin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, West Columbus will face off against rival Lakewood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
