League recap: Desert Chapel rises, Joshua Springs falls in league standings

Victory league recap: 3/27/13

Desert Chapel made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from sixth to third place in Victory thanks to a 2-3 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Joshua Springs fell hardest in the standings, dropping from third all the way to fifth place after going 1-1 in the past week. Desert Christian Academy (6-1, 1-0) is the No. 1 team in the league.

The league's longest active winning streak belongs to Bloomington Christian (6-2), undefeated over its last five games.

After surrendering only zero walks in the past week, the Ravens remain No. 1 in the league in that category for the season, with just 12 total.

There were ten hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. Leading the pack was Nathan Loewen, who hit .667 by going 2-for-3.

The Eagles' Donald Hernandez led the league in strikeouts this week with 27. With 52 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.



Hernandez led Desert Chapel to a win on March 20, as he notched 12 strikeouts to beat Redlands Adventist Academy, 7-1. Over seven innings of work, he gave up four hits and one run.
